Tilak Varma is an Indian cricketer who recently played his match against the West Indies in August 2023.

Early Life of Tilak Verma

Tilak Varma was born in a poor family in Hyderabad, Telangana. His early days were very critical situation.

In his early days, he used to play cricket by plastic bats and he put his bats and ball besides his sleeping bed during his sleeping at night. His father said, he was very interested to play cricket and whole night used to keep balls and bats near his bed. Later he used to play Tennis ball cricket at the age of 11 under the supervision of Coach Salim Bayash.

The coach Salim Bayash noticed him and took him under his wing at Legala Cricket Academy, Lingampally. The coach ferry Tilak to the academy and back him to 40 km distance untill Tilak’s family relocated to nearby. Finally, Salim Bayash made Tilak Varma a successful cricketer.

Tilak Varma has done his primary school at Crescent Model English School, Hyderabad. He completed his secondary school education from Lepakshi Junior CollegeHyderabad and now, he is persuing his MBA from Andhra University.

First- Class Cricket:

At the age of 16, Tilak Varma first-class debut for Hyderabad 2018-19 Ranji trophy on 30 December 2018. In this tournament, he scored 215 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 147.26. 

T20 Debut:

In 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he debuted his T20 career on 28 February 2019 in Hyderabad. Till date he has played 49, T20 matches and scored 1508 on an average of 37.70 and his top score is 84.

List A Debut

On 28 September 2019, Tilak made his debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy(2018-19) in Hyderabad. During this tournament, he scored 180 runs and took 4 wickets in the 5 games.

In 2021-22 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 180 runs and took 4 wickets in a five game tournament. 

Under-19 world cup:

In 2019, he was named in the Indian Squads for the 2020 under-19 Cricket world cup. He scored 86 runs and played 6 matches.

He was the lucky man for Mumbai Indians. He was bought by Mumbai Indians in the auction in February 2022 for the Indian Premier League (IPL) Tournament. The base price was RS. 2000000 (Twenty Lakhs) and bought by Mumbai Indians at the price of 1.7 Crore. He made his IPL debut in 2022.

In the second match of IPL 2022. he scored 61 in 33 deliveries against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
